A challenging 5.2-mile out-and-back along the AT’s rocky “Roller Coaster,” with about 1,500 feet of climbing and a big payoff: sweeping views across the Shenandoah Valley. Allow 3–4 hours, and wear trail shoes with good grip.
After the hike
Dirt Farm Brewing + Nomini Bay Oyster Ranch
A post-hike reward with panoramic Loudoun Valley views: grilled oysters and shrimp from the Nomini Bay pop-up, tacos from Dirt Farm’s kitchen, plus seltzers and beer.
